THE ANCESTRAL JOURNEY CONTINUES

Peace African Family,

In May of this year, I had been blessed with a wonderful opportunity. I made my way to Ghana, West Africa, my ancestral home. For me, the purpose of this journey had many sides. First, it was important for me culturally, as an African-American, to see some portion of Africa with my own eyes. It was also important as a Babalawo, to make a pilgrimage on a religious level. Lastly, it was important for me, a man, five generations from my forebears who were enslaved to return my soul to the place of its birth FREE!!!

I had an opportunity to see many things in a short time. I had many experiences too and made new friends. I saw the slave castles at Cape Coast and Elmina. I saw the Cultural Center and the Ashanti King’s Palace in Kumasi and Kwame Nkruma’s Tomb, the WEB Du Bois Cultural Center and the Makola Market in Accra. I also met a young and enterprising man by the name of Chuku. He was my tour guide. We not only had a great business experience, we became friends along the way.

There was much more to this story that I will share with you in the coming months. Please continue to check this site for updates and excerpts from, “The Ancestral Journey.” We will post pictures and video clips soon.

I would like to thank Olodumare-The Creator, Orunmila the Prophet, the Orisha and the Egun (Ancestors) for making this possible. I would also like to thank ABA Tours for making the arrangements and again my friend Chuku for the fufu and grasscutter soup!
(I’ll explain later)

Peace to you all,
Baba Akinkugbe Karade a/k/a
Bafour Kwadwo Kyei
